Foxdale

On monday 4/6/14 i went to Foxdale with my reading 4B class. It was a good trip just like what i expected, a nice comfortable place with a lovely old people. There were some things that made me exited and others that were a little bit challenging. Starting up with the things that amused me, and they are the pictures that the old lady shared with me, she showed me her kids and her her grand sons and daughters. Next the challenge that i had was keeping the conversation on the good happy side and trying not to make her feel sad, for example one of her kids died in a car accident so i didn't talk too much about the situation i changed the subject really fast. Finally my advice for all the students that are planning to go there is just take it easy and try making the atmosphere enjoyable for both of y'all !

Story Response

Today i read a section in a book called "Happy" about how to be happy without money.  First, the book agrees that money is not happiness and i am not disagreeing with him on that point, but whenever i talk to someone about how money cannot bring happiness to someone they start arguing, and i kinda agree with them some times. One of my friends said people who say this sentence have no money Lol, that's why they start tricking themselves.

Bias 3

On Monday February 3 2014, a teenager student in Russia shot his teacher and a police officer and left 20 students hostages. The murderer was luckily stopped by his father after a while of fear in the school.
The shocking incident that happened on a regular day in Russia was included in the three newspapers mentioned above. Starting with article A “The new york times” they indicated basic information about the killer by only describing him as a teenager. They also were not specific about how many hostages were in the crime, but they did include many different opinions from people and classmate upon this kid who is the killer. Next article B “Yahoo news”, they started identifying the student as a 10th grader and they were specific about the students that were hostages in that school by giving an accurate number which is 20 students. They also mentioned that there was a second police officer that was wounded in that scene. Plus they have included the Russian president point of view upon this crime. After that article C included all the accurate information about the crime like the number of hostages and the age of the murderer with providing 12 different photos of the crime. They also claimed that the teacher was not murdered, he was just severely injured. But they didn’t talk about the second police officer that was wounded.

Summing up, all the articles came from well-known newspapers. But I had to choose one I’ll go with article C, Because it was the most accurate upon all by mentioning that the teacher was not killed and they have a lot of pictures that help us understand the scene better. I may disagree with the fact that they didn’t mention the injured police officer, but mentioning a much important fact like the teacher is not dead is more important in my point of view.

Reading 4B Blog

Hello, I'm an international student from Kuwait looking forward to join Penn state this fall. My name is Sulayman, I may look angry sometimes but trust me I'm one of the happiest students over here, just don't worry to pass a hi if you see me ;). I love watching movies, especially the animated ones, because the directors put a lot of work and effort in it. On top of that I always try to make my own animations which is really not that interesting to you, but yeah I'm trying. My major is civil engineering because I love how they construct and build every thing around us, plus it is one of those majors which participate in many events in the modern world. Reading is my worst nightmare because every time I read I think about other things and get of the topic which is funny sometimes. My main goal in the IECP is to learn how to read fast and coherently.

For now the best book that I'll choose to read is "Happier" because it shows you some basic techqnuiques to be happy in your life.
